Dreamt a poem up the other day … It’s corny but kind of fun !!! And seeks to be an amalgamation of feelings and observations
To the rhyme of Three Little Ducks !
Two old Pugs ( short for Peugeots) went out one day.
They went out to see what they could see.
They want to a land far away .
Two old pugs went out one day, to a land over the sea.
The went to a land across the sea.
To a place called Afriqua ! Across the sea.
And what did they see .
Each day something new …… something new, yet so, so old.

They saw smiling faces, poverty and opulence all in one day. On so many days.

They saw kids all dressed in white going to school and ladies in bright , bright colours and men and women work in the hot, hot sun. And sky scrapers finished and lots waiting and wondering if they will ever be finished. ( apparently siting there as part of money laundering exercises …. And fluctuations in interest rates. )
Two old Pugs went out one day to see what they could see. They bounced and bashed on rough roads and glided along highways and freeways to see what they you see. They paid some tolls and fees to drive on the roads of all these countries.
The got to see coastal resorts and mountains and Boab trees… forests of Boab trees looking like Ents ( from Lord of the Rings) inching across the landscape being called to a Song.
Two old Pugs went across the sea to Afrique … a land across the sea to see what they could see.
They saw places where the only economy was charcoal (and fire wood) all bagged up, lining the roads for sale and markets galore. Markets with stuff from near and fare. Vegetables and rucksacks and spare parts … and folks fixing things , making things like beds and furniture…. In workshops beside the road. The dusty road.

They saw men carrying fridges on their backs and rolling 500 kg bags about like toys. And woman with baskets of bread and fish and god know what… selling their wares … and fancy Haviana thongs for sale to those who have not much to spare. They saw flash new cars and old old cars ( not as old as these Pugs) and trucks pilled high.

Two old Pugs went out one day to journey to another land where they crossed borders and borders and drove in the dirt and through a million potholes too.
They journeyed around this land of Afriqua ! To see what they could learn. They learnt of lands of riches ( oil and diamonds too) and pollution (plastic killing the land and waterways and sea) . And old gasolino (diesel) trucks on their last legs carting their loads – spewing out fumes you can’t see through. And many, many trucks broken and bashed up on the side of the road. And amazing repairs being done out there …. Where ever they broke down.
Two old Pugs went out one day see what they could see. They saw joy and wonder … wild animals… lions and leopards and buffaloes too … and elephants , so many they destroy their own habits.., And antelopes and giraffe and warthogs too. And monkeys and rainforests too. They saw expansive landscapes and coastal beauty.
Two old Pugs crossed the sea to see what they could see … who did they might meet across the sea, in this place called Afriqua !!! They were helped and challenged but found their way , they saw mountains and river , mighty rivers like the Congo and the Okavango too … rushing by. They saw waves smashing upon the shores and cactus and forests and bright coloured bugs and mosquitoes too !

They were helped and guided and paid their fees with a smile and wave and passports checked and searched from time to time see what they have. And most of all they learned of all dimensions of TIA ( This is Africa … Fit in or fxzk off ) and the joy of being supported and helped each day.
The two old Pugs venture on. And on. In this wild, wild land … Afriqua. !!! To see what they can see.
